How does Meta charge for WhatsApp messages if I connect my own number?
If you connect your own WhatsApp number, Meta charges some messages directly to the card on your Meta account. It is a Meta fee and it goes entirely to Meta: CitaFlow neither charges it nor keeps any of it. If you use the shared CitaFlow number, we cover that cost.
What Meta charges for
- The assistant’s replies, the ones sent within 24 hours of the customer’s last message: since 1 October 2026, Meta includes 1,000 free per month and number and charges each message beyond that.
- Appointment notifications, if you send them from your number with “Send notifications from my WhatsApp number” (My Business → Notifications): Meta charges each one.
- Marketing messages you send over WhatsApp.
The card, on your WhatsApp account
The card has to be on the billing page of your WhatsApp account in Meta, not only on your ad account. Without it, Meta stops delivering the assistant’s replies once the allowance runs out. If it’s missing, the panel warns you with a direct link to that page.
Where to see how many you’ve used
In Chatbot → WhatsApp, under “Messaging limits”, and in Settings → Billing & Credits → “View usage”, you see the month’s messages against the 1,000 free ones and an estimate of what Meta would charge. The exact amount is in your Meta billing.
