What should I do if "Complete registration" fails when I enter the WhatsApp PIN?

1 min read

Read the error message the panel shows: it comes from Meta and almost always points to one of the causes below. The PIN is only requested if you connected with “Register a new number”; if you connected your existing WhatsApp Business app, there is no PIN registration.

First things first

“Complete registration” appears once Meta has approved your business name (the status changes to “Name approved! - Complete registration”). While you see “Awaiting Meta approval”, it isn’t time yet.

Common causes

  • The number isn’t verified in Meta. Finish verifying the number in WhatsApp Manager and try again.
  • The PIN doesn’t match. If that number already had a two-step verification PIN, enter that same PIN or reset it in WhatsApp Manager before trying again.
  • Too many attempts. Meta blocks registering a number after 10 attempts in 72 hours, until 72 hours have passed since the first one. Every new attempt during that time extends it, so don’t try again until it’s over.
  • You just removed the number from another platform. Wait a few minutes before registering it.

Tips

  • Choose a 6-digit PIN and keep it somewhere safe: the panel doesn’t store it and you’ll need it if you change the number’s settings.
  • “Check status” → “Open WhatsApp Manager” takes you to the account in Meta.
